The Afghan Hound has great stamina, is a hardy breed, and is very agile. It's native land has gazelle and other large prey that the Afghan Hound loves to hunt. Royalty especially favors this breed. It has a silky coat that is straight and is also very long. But has little hair on the spine and face. It comes in some combinations and all colors. The thick bushels of hair on the legs help to protect the dog out in harsh, cold weather conditions. These dogs were very popular in the 70's. They are hard to train and because of their size are hard to handle. Many of these dogs have been abandoned because of the expectations of the owner which are unrealistic. The long silky coat must be groomed everyday. When necessary dry shampoo. Also this dog must be bathed every month. Afghan Hounds need open spaces to run which they must be allowed to do. They must also have long walks daily. Males are 26-29 in. (66-74 kg.) and weigh 55-65 lb. (25-29 kg.) The average height for a female is 24-26 in. (61-66 cm.) and average weight is 45-55 lb. (20-25 kg.) Common health problems are hip dysplasia and eye problems like cataracts. This breed is expected to live up to about 14 years.

Even though the American Cocker Spaniel is like the English Cocker Spaniel they became so different that they started to become recognized as seperate breeds. This strong but small dog has a body that is sturdy and compact at the same time. It's coat that is so fine and silky is short on the head and long on the body. On the body it's coat may even reach ground length! It's coat comes in any solid color, black and tan, tricolors, particolors, and roans. It has a docked tail usually and has long ears. The American Cocker Spaniel is friendly, intelligent, good natured, and responsive. Some of the breeds may have Rage Syndrome which causes some dogs to show agression towards their owners. If you wish to have the coat long you must shampoo often and brush everyday. If you don't like the long coat you can cut it to medium length. It needs trimming regularly no matter what length, and when brushing don't pull out the silky hair. in height males are 13-16 in (33-41 cm) and in weight 25-35 lb (11-16 kg). A female's average height is 12-15 in (30-38 cm) and average weight is 20-23 lb (9-14 kg). They need regular exercise because of their high stamina. Stay away from brushy thickets during walks in order to not tangle the coat. They are likely to get skin irritations, spinal problems, inherited eye diseases, ear infections, and heart problems. They are expected to live 12-15 years.

The American Fox Hound does well with children and other people and can be lovable pets, and they like chasing foxes. American Fox Hounds are skilled at at tracking down scents. This breed is quick, intellagent, friendly, and strong! This breed know how to get along without being too bossy or fussy, and enjoys country living. This breed needs outdoor exercise. Weekly brushing takes care of this dog's short, thick coat, wich is normally black, tan, and white, although any color is acceptable. There height in male, is 22 to 25 inches, for females, is 21 to 24 inches at the withers.

For American Staghounds, some people do not know that it is a breed, but as a sight hound, The three coat types are shag, slick, and broken. At home they are very calm. They crave human attention and love their owners very much. This breed is very good with children but their size can be a very big problem. They make great watchdogs because of their great vision but they are not guardians or protective. Staghounds are very fast but are not hyperactive. For males 26-30 in. (67-77 cm.) Females 24-27 in. (61-69 cm.) A males weight is 55-90 lb. (25-41 kg.) For a females weight 45-75 lb. (20-34 kg.) There are no know genetic health problems because most Staghounds have high vigor. Being bred for countless generations for function the American Staghound is quite healthy. Due to their low percentage of body fat to muscle ratio the Staghound is sensitive to anesthesia. They should not be ran after eating a big portion of food due to torsion bloat concerns. They are expected to live about 12-14 years but can live more if it is cared for properly.

Beagles were originally used to hunt hares. Even though it is the smallest of the pack hounds the beagle is a very muscular little dog. The breed can come in many colors like, white, black, tan, red, lemon and blue mottle. It's height is up to 16 in. (41 cm.) for males. A males weight is 22-25 lb. (10-11 kg.) Females are up to 15 in. (38 cm.) and can weigh from 20-23 lb. (9-10 kg.) You must brush with a small bristle brush occasionally. You must dry shampoo occasionally as well. Make sure you keep the nails trimmed and every once in a while carefully check the ears for infections or signs of them. You need a big yard for this dog so it can take care of some of its exercise requirements. The walk which you'll hopefully take it on everyday will take care of the rest of its exercise requirements. Beagles sometimes have a tendancy to become lazy and obese. The Beagle is usually easy to train but isn't always. When Beagles pick up a smell that is intresting to them, it will become hard to get their attention. They love children, crave companionship, and are rarely aggressive.

This breed of dog can come in any color or color combination. With a flat, silky coat that shouldn't be wooly. In excess males can reach 100 pounds (45kg). Males at the least should stand 28in. While females should not be any less then 26in. This dog is active and intelligent. It gets nervous around children but is gentle and good mannered around adults. Being a brave dog it will try to dominate other breeds, even though it lacks strength and body fat. Some common health problems in this breed are rogressive retinal atrophy and gastric torsion. Expected to live up to 10 to 12 years.

Some of the acceptable colors of the Bracco Italiano are Orange and White, Orange Roan, Chestnut and White, Chestnut Roan. The coat is easy to maintain and very smooth. This breeds weight should be in proportion to the height. When provied with exercise and good training it'll make a good family dog. Can be a good dog with cats and correct training. Needs frequent exercise. The health problems occur in the eyes and the hips and the average life span is about 12 years.

This breed is sometimes known as the Breton Spaniel. It comes in white with orange, brown and liver, black, and roans. They are very easy to train and love to please people. They need regular brushing and should only be bathed when necessary. They need vigorous exercies. These dogs are prone to ear infections. The males can grow 17-21 in. (43-53 cm.) and can weigh a much as 35-40 lb. (14-18 kg.) The females can grow as tall as 18-20 in. (46-51 cm.) and can weigh as much as 30-40 lb. (14-18 kg.) This breed is expected to live about 10-12 years.This dog love to take on challenges and exercise a lot! They are good with young children and and friendly, though they are hunting dogs. They need grooming every other day and a scissor trim every few months.This breed is very happy, alert, playful, appealing, strong, energetic, vigoious, and quick moving!

The English Springer Spaniel is not the largest Spaniel but only one of them. It loves water too. It is mainly white with black or liver. It learns very quickly and loves company. It makes a great watchdog, but can inherit behavioral disorder, causing aggression. You must brush the coat with a stiff bristle brush. The ears may get infected so check its ears regularly. Do not overfeed and give it as much exercise as you can or until it is ready to stop exercising. This breed gets into trould when left alone. The males grow from 19-21 in. (48-53 cm.) And from 45-55 lb. (20-25 kg.) The females can grow as tall as 18-20 in. (46-51 cm.) It can weigh as much as 40-50 lb. (18-23 kg.) It is expected to live from 12-14 years.

This breed was bred as a gundog in Scotland. It can handle tough terrain with ease. It has wonderful stamina and a beautiful silky coat. This dog only comes in one way and that black with reddish to tan markings. No matter what do you have it is sure to have a spot over each eye if it's this breed. It is reserved with strangers meaning when strangers come it doesn't let its eagerness show. It is calmer then other setters making it a very caring, affectionate, and excellent companion. It can be relied on with children. It is kind of easy to train but if you train to hard the dogs enthusiasm and spirit will break. To keep the coat in wonderful condition you must brush it regularly. They must get a daily walk or else they will be hard to maintain control over. This breed is most likely to get progressive retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, bloat, and cataracts. In height a male is 24-27 in. (61-69 cm) and in weight 55-80 lb. (25-36 kg). A females average height is 23-26 in. (58-66 cm) and average weight is 45-70 lb (20-32 kg). Expected to live 10-12 years.

An ancient breed of Hungarian sheepdog, the Puli comes in a variety of colors. Any shade of gray, black, apricot, an white. If a Puli is raised with a child it will be fine but if not raised with a child things might not go to well if u have one when the Puli has not been raised with it. When feeling that their owner may be threatened it might give off a vocal warning. In height the males can grow 16 to 17.5 inches (41-46 cm.). The females can grow as tall as 14.5 to 16 inches (36-41 cm.). In weight the males can weigh up to 25-35 pounds (11-16 kg.). Females 20-30 pounds (9-14 kg.) Do not take care of mats with brush but with hands. Expected to live 12 or more years.

The Irish Water Spaniel is the largest spaniel. It only comes in a solid brown. It has webbed feet to help with swimming. This dog is easy to train and is very intelligent. They love to please their owners. They are stubborn and independent and can learn many things. It's gentle and easy-going. It's good at working in the field and is obedient. They love to have fun and can be in the mood for trouble-making at times. It gets along with other pets and likes older children that treat it gently not roughly. It can be aggressive at times. It is a great swimmer and has high stamina. Its average height is 20-23 inches (51-58 cm.) Its average weight is 45-65 pounds (20-30 kg.) Most likely should live in the country or the suburbs because they need lots of room to run. They are good at swimming and retrieving and should do these activities regularly. A regular walk could never hurt. Expect the coat to mat once in a while as much care should be put into the coat. It is expected to live 10-12 years.

When this breed was about to go extinct 140 years ago it was brought back by Captin George Graham, a British Army Officer. The Irish Wolfhound is strong and big. it is also the tallest breed in the world. It's coat comes in brindle, black, fawn and white, red, and gray. Its coat's texture is rough and wiry. Even though it kills wolves, it is actually very gentle. It is able to be trusted around children, but might knock the children over with its large, mighty tail. It is an okay watchdog, even though it might not bark, its size should be enough to scare off intruders. If you do not comb the coat regularly it will mat. You can cut out any knots with blunt-nosed scissors. They do not need any more exercise then a small breed because they love to be lazy. This breed might get cataracts and hip dysplasia. And because it is a large breed it might suffer from heart disease. Males in height are 32-38 in (81-95 cm) and in weight is 115-125 lb (52-57 kg). Average height for a female is 28-32 in (71-81 cm) and average weight is 100-110 lb (45-50 kg). These dogs are expected to live about 6-8 years.

This breed is said to be around since Egyptian Times. These dogs are great at running and occassionally get outbursts of speed. It comes in many different colors. These colors are fawn, cream, white, red, blue, black with fawn, and white. They don't like children so if you have a quiet household this dog is perfect. If to stressed you need to constntly reassure it by stroking it. If necessary, bathe it, but make sure it is very warm and dry afterwards. These dogs love to run and should take a walk everyday. The males and females in height can be 12-15 in. (30-38 cm.) and in weight beween 6-10 lb. (3-5 kg.) Italian Greyhounds are prone to slipped kneecaps and broken legs especially well puppies. They are expected to live 12-15 years.

A Scottish Deerhounds eyes, are usually a dark-generally dark brown, brown or hazel. General formation is that of a Grey Hound of larger sizes and bone. The Scottish Deerhounds come in all kinds of colors like darkblue-gray, dark and light grays or brindles, sandy red, or red fawn, or yellow, height of male dogs from 30 to 32 inches, or even more if there be symmetry with out coarseness, which is rare. The height of female dogs are from 28 inches upwards. There is no objection to a girl being large, unless too coarse, as even at her greatest height she does not approach that of the dog , and therefore can't be too big for work as over big dogs are. They can be 85 to 110 pnds. in male dogs, and from 75 to 95 pnds. in female dogs.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks noses are usually have black or brown in color. They also have well developed teeth. Their bright sparkling eyes are round wtih an intelligent expression. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a very good hunter and is fierce, but on the inside it is calm, gentle, and listens very well. Goodnatured, but its personality doesn't allow it to be good with children because it plays rough and doesn't like to be bothered. The height for a male dog is 25-27 inches (63-69 cm), female dogs height is 24-26 inches (61-66 cm). Their weight for males are 80-90 pnds. (36-41 kg), female dogs are 65-75 pnds. (29-34 kg). Common health problems with this breed are hip dysplasia, dermoid sinus, and cysts. This breed has a silky short haired coat, and is easy to use. When brushing, use a firm bristle brush and when bathing use some nice shampoo. Only bathe when necessary. This breed sheds averagely. Expected to live about 10-12 years.

Sloughis are very graceful dogs. This dog is very attatched to it's master. For males, this great breed's weight is 50-63 lb. (22-28kg), for female Sloughis, they are 40-50 lb. (18-23kg) approximately. They are 26-28" (66-72cm) at the withers, up to 29.5" (75cm) in "mountain type" dogs, female Sloughis 24-27 (61-68cm) approximaltely. Sloughis's coat is smooth,dense,soft, and short. Their coat comes in pale sand to red with or without black markings like black masks, dark overylay, black ears, blackmantel, and brindling. The classical coat colors are sand/blackmask and sand/brindel/black mask, all others are less frequent. Red/black brindel/black mask are the darkest and rarest. White hair at the tip of the toes and a white patch on the chest are tolerated. Their tail is very long and beautiful. Males typically larger than females, should look more powerful and strongly built than male Salukis and Awawakns. Female Sloughis should be femine, graceful, more refined, and smaller than males. This breed is affectionate, subtle, great watch dogs, gentle, playful, and very loyal to their owner. This breed is highly intelligent, curious and independent, but they are quite sensitive to anger. They need a lot of space around them and do not put up with to many hours of crating. Sloughis like children who have been brought up to respect animals. They get along well with other pets like parrots, cats, and other dogs! They are expected to live about 12-16 years if taken care of properly.

The Segugio Italiano is a medium sized breed. Males are 20-23in. (52-59 cm.) Females are 19-22 in. (48-56 cm.) and both males and females weigh from 40-62 lb. (18-28 kg.) This breed comes in gorgous colors like a deep red, to wheaten and he or she can be tan or black. There are 2 coat varities ; the coarse is harsh,dense and wirly lying close to the body and is never longer then 5cm. Segugio Italianos have a shiny and thik coat, and contains a weekly brushing to remove dead coat. This dog is very calm and quiet. He has an exceptional sense os smell. This breed is can sometimes be good with children!

The Wire-Haired Minature Dachshund's appearance is low,long, a muscle body, and bold. It's temperament is faithful versatile and good tempered. For sizes, the ideal wieght is 9-12 kgs (20-26 lbs), Minatures ideal weight is 4.5 kgs (10 lbs). the characteristics os this fine breed are intelligent,lively, and courageous to the point of rashness, and obedient. A wire-Haired Minature Dachshund's jaw is very strong and long. It also has a power to it's bite and hold. (Good for Tug-A-Wore!) Their teeth are strongly developed, powerful canine teeth fitting closely. Their feet are straught or vey slightly turned out, their hindfeet are smaller and more narrow, placed nails, and thick and firm pads. For smoothe-haired dogs,their supple, but fitting closely all over without dewlap and little or no wrinkle. Long-haired dogs are straight and soft, or only slightly waved; longest under neck, on under parts of body, and hindlegs, where it forms abundant feathering on the tail where it forms a flag. Their coat is flat, and not obscuring out line. For wire-haired dogs, with exception of jaw, eyebrows, chin, and ears, the whole body should be coverd with a straight, short harsh coat with dense under coat, beared on the chin, bushy eyebrows, but hair on ears almost smooth. Feet and legs well but neatly furnished with harsh coat. For colours, all colours allowed but not desirable. Nails and naose are black in all colours excepted chocolate/tan and chocolate/dapple, where brown permitted.

This famiouse breed is very entergetic,aristocratis bird-dog has a rich and beautiful red glossy and fine color to its coat, but their hair on their ears ,chest ,tail and back of legs are longer. In a field, this breed is a swift- moving and at home this breed is a sweet-natured,trainable companion,and has a rollicking personality. There are many varities of colors for this breeds coat: Mahogany, Rich Chestnut Red with no trace of black. Their size and height 27in at the withers & a show weight of about 70 pounds is considered ideal for a dog. For Females they are 25inches and 60 pounds. This breed is a beautiful and graceful dog.

The Weirmaraner is a athletic, brave, loyal, happy, loving, and large dog. They have beautiful lines and fine, short, smooth coat, and come on all shades of gray. This breed is an average shedder. They are intelligent but highly opinion ated and willful, therefore this breed should have firm experienced training from the start. This breed reserved with strangers and sometimes combativ with toher dogs. Socialize them well at and early age. Has a strong pray instint, do not trust noncanine animals. The Werimaraner provides to live indoors as a member of the family, and needs companionship and attention. If left alone too much, they can become very destructive and restless. This breed is a good protecter, and often kind to children. This breed is affectionate and very rambunctious. A mails height is 24-27 inch. A females weight is 22-25 inch. A males weight is 55-70 pnds. (25-32kg). A females weight is 50-65 pnds. (23-29kg). As they are prone to bloar, it is better to feed them two or three small meals a day rather than one large meal. Hip dyspalisa has been reduced to only 8% through conseintious breeding. Prone yo hypertropic ostedystrophy (too rapid growth) and tumors. This breed will do best in a large yard. There life expactancy is about 10-12 yrs.

The puppies come in one mix of colors, and those colors are black and tan. The Yorkshire Terrier doesn't care about its small size and is always up for trouble and adventure. It is clever, brave, loyal, and very energetic. It loves its master and can be protective around strangers. Although easy to train, the Yorkshire Terrier can be stubborn at times. It is great at defending its territory, making it an excellent watchdog. The Yorkie loves human attention. They actually depend on it. They are usually difficult to house train. If you over-protect this dog it may become neurotic. It's height is 6-7 in. (15-17.5 cm.) It's weight can get up to 7pounds (3.2 kg.) They make good apartment dogs. They don't need alot of exercise but a time to run and play in the house would be nice for them. This breed doesn't shed alot of hair and they need regular grooming and for show coats the coat needs hours of grooming. Expected to live from 12-15 years.

The Pug is a very cute and loves to cuddle! This amazing dog has a sleek and soft coat, that comes in fawn, apricot, silver, and black. The teeth should meet in a slightly undershot. The back is short , with a level topline. They are perky, wild, and loyal, loving and outgoing. Pugs are very sensitive to the tone of your voice, so harsh punishment is unecessary. They are very good watch dogs, and are not yappers. They require lots of attention, and become jealous if their owner ignores them. For female Pugs, they are 10-12 inches (25-30cm, and for males Pugs they are 12-14 inches (30-36cm). Female Pugs weight is 13-18 pnds (6-8kg), and for male Pugs, theyh weigh 13-20 pnds (6-9kg). Pugs catch colds easily and are stressed by hot and cold weather. You should never over feed a Pug. Delicate eyes and prone to weeping. This breed tends to wheeze and snore, but are very easy care dogs. Don't forget to give your Pug a hug!

The German Shepherd is a well proportioned, strong dog. Their coat comes in colors of black with tan, sable, or all black, but also can come in blue, liver, and white, but those colors are considered a fault according to most and it is a seasonally heavy shedder. A quick daily brushing is best unless hair in the house is not a problem. They should be bathed rarely, only once or twice a year to avoide skin oil depletion. Often used as working dogs, they are direct and fearless, eager and alert. Bold, cheerful, obedient and eager to learn. Some are timid and skittish and may be prone to fear biting. There nose can sniff out drugs and instruders, and can alert handlers to the presence of underground mines in time to avoid detonation, or gas in pipes buried 15 ft. underground, it is a popular show dog and family companion. A males height is 24-26 in. (60-65 cm.). A females height is 22-24 in. (55-60 cm.) Both of their weight is about 77-85 lb. (35-40 kg.). This breed is so intellegent and learns so readily that it has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, in police work, as a guide for the blind, in search and rescue service, and in the military.

The Siberian Husky is a strong, compact, working dog. The Siberian Husky comes in all colors of black to pure white. A variety of markings on the head is common. Color choices include dilute to dark (jet), red and white, wich rages from light (silver) to dark (wolf gray), sable and white (wich is red-orange with black tips). A gouti and whit (which is somtimes referred to as the coyate color and contains a lot of dark gray coat), and white (no to be confused with a samoyed.) This cheerful dog is very fond of his or her family. A puppy at heart, they are clever, sociable and loving, easy-going and docile. Though they do generally have a lot of energy, especially puppies. They are are good with children and friendly with strangers. They're not watch dogs, for they bark little and love everyone. Huskies are very intelligent and easy to train, but they do have a mind of their own and will not obey a command if they do not see the point. Training takes paitience and consistency. Also gets bored easily, and likes to howl. They don't like being left alone, so you might want to consider having two. When they are left alone, they could be very destructive. Huskies are thrifty eaters and need less food then you might expect. A males height is 21-23 inch. (53-60cm.). A females height is 20-22inch. (51-56cm.). A males weight is 45-60pnds. (20-27kg.). A females weight is 35-50pnds. (16-22kg.). Huskies are relatively free of breed-specific problems, apart from hip dysplasia, eye problems and sometimes have zinc responsive dermatitis (a skin condition wich improves by giving a zinc supplements). Huskies are very active and will do best with a fenced-in large yard. Because of their heavy coats, they prefer cool climates. The coat does not need much care except during heavy shedding seasons when they have to be combed throughly with a metal comb.

Whippets are descendants of the Greyhounds. They were used for hunting rabbits and rag racing. Rag racing is when the dogs are signaled with a rag or handkerchif they race towards their owners. The Whippet is like a smaller version of a Greyhound. The Whippet is very skinny and very graceful. It has a dense coat that is very fine. This coat comes in many colors like red, brindle, black, slate blue, tigered white, and fawn. It can come in mixed or solid colors. The Whippet is many things including smart, energetic, caring, and lovable. It is very sensitive mentally and physically so it should not be trained to hard. This breed may be very smart and learn fast but it can be never be perfect due to its independence. They are good with children as long as the children aren't mean to the dog. This dog sometimes can be difficult to housebreak. These dogs are prone to problems with their skin and upset stomachs. This dog should be taken on a walk daily. In height males can be 19 in. (47 cm.) and females can be 17 in. (44 cm.) and in weight males can be between 18-28 lb. (8-12 kg.) while females can be 12-20 lb. (5-9 kg.) Their life expectancy is 12-15 years if they are taken care of properly.
